Compiling on Windows
====================
Users are advised to use the Visual Studio .sln file in the win/ folder.
For Windows users a prebuilt Open CASCADE version is available from the
http://opencascade.org website. Download and install this version and
provide the paths to the Open CASCADE header and library files to MS
Visual Studio C++.
For building the Autodesk 3ds Max plugin, the 3ds Max SDK needs to be
installed as well as 3ds Max itself. Please provide the include and
library paths to Visual Studio.
For building the IfcPython wrapper, SWIG needs to be installed. Please
download the latest swigwin version from http://www.swig.org/download.html.
After extracting the .zip file, please add the extracted folder to the PATH
environment variable. Python needs to be installed, please provide the
include and library paths to Visual Studio.
Compiling on *nix
====================
Users are advised to build IfcOpenShell using the cmake file provided in
the cmake/ folder. There might be an Open CASCADE package in your operating
system's software repository. If not, you will need to compile Open
CASCADE yourself. See http://opencascade.org.
For building the IfcPython wrapper, SWIG and Python development are
required.
To build IfcOpenShell please take the following steps:
$ cd /path/to/IfcOpenShell/cmake
$ mkdir build
$ cd build
Optionally:
$ OCC_INCLUDE_PATH="/path/to/OpenCASCADE/include"

IfcOpenShell is an open source ([LGPL]) software library for working with Industry Foundation Classes ([IFC]). Complete
parsing support is provided for [IFC2x3 TC1], [IFC4 Add2 TC1], IFC4x1, IFC4x2, and [IFC4x3 Add2]. Extensive geometric support
is implemented for the IFC releases [IFC2x3 TC1] and [IFC4 Add2 TC1]. Extending with support for arbitrary IFC schemas
is possible at compile-time when using C++ and at run-time when using Python.
In addition to a C++ and Python API, IfcOpenShell comes with an ecosystem of tools, notably including IfcConvert (an application

This folder contains the setup to build the IfcOpenShell C++ API documentation from the source code.
## Generating the documentation
> Prerequisites:

> Make sure to have [Doxygen](https://www.doxygen.nl) and [Graphviz](https://graphviz.org) installed into your `$PATH` variable.

> The documentation also use the [doxygen-awesome](https://jothepro.github.io/doxygen-awesome-css) theme as a git submodule.
Build with the command (from within the `/docs/cpp-api` folder):

$ doxygen
```
To include the current git commit hash into the build documentation, use the following command:
```shell
$ PROJECT_NUMBER=$(git rev-parse --short HEAD) doxygen
```
This will extract the current commit hash in short version and sets the propper ENV variable used by doxygen.
The generation of the documentation might take a while depending on your systems hardware, as it is configured to generate the Class graphs using .
The resulting documentation is located unter `/cpp-api/output/html` and can be directly accessed with your browser:
